China Open of International Classic Cars 2010

The Classic Vehicle Union Of China is hosting a rally, the “China Open of International Classic Cars 2010” from 24th October to 30th October 2010.

The rally is for historic cars, and will be held for the fist time year and is recognized as a FIVA B event.

Oakey Weekend – 7th,8th August 2010

Bayside run for the weekend of the 7th and 8th of August is to the Darling Downs, over-nighting at Oakey.

Route passes through Gatton, Cliffton, Nobby, Pittsworth and Toowoomba. Run-sheet available.

Meet at the Cleveland Show Grounds at 7.30 am, morning tea at Apex Park, Gatton 9.15 am.

Australian Historic Motoring Foundation (AHMF) Survey

The AHMF, in conjunction with the Queensland Historic Motoring Council (QHMC), is conducting a survey of all affiliated club memberes. The survey is available as both a web-based and paper-based survey.

The QHMC website has more information and a copy of the survey is available for download.

We encourage our members to complete and return the survey at the earliest possible convenience.

2010 Ormiston Swap – March 28th

The Ormiston Swap, held on the last Sunday in March each year, is on the Sunday, the 28th of March this year.

Entry for swap sites is still just $4.00 and the entry fee for shoppers and lookers is $2.00. Entry to the Ormiston Swap at the Ormiston School is from Wellington St, Ormiston.

Gates open at 5.45am and the day generally finishes about 1.00pm.

2010 Australia Day Rally was a success

The Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club is pleased to report that our Australia Day Rally for 2010 was a success. We attracted 550 cars, 11 bikes, 9 trucks, 2 fire engines and one bus. As the cars assembled, we served up over 1000 breakfasts to the waiting drivers & passengers.

Proceeds from our raffle were used to donate $800 to the Bayside Chapter of Sailability.

The Courier Mail was present and have posted a slide show of photos, taken at the Alex Hills Hotel. A detailed write-up will appear in the next edition of our magazine, due out in February.

2010 Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club Australia Day Rally

The 2010 Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club Australia Day Rally is all set to go on Australia Day 26th January 2010. All Veteran, Vintage, Historic & Classic Vehicles are invited to join us and remember entry is free and no registration required.

The run leaves from Ormiston State School, Wellington Rd., Ormiston. Enter through the school gates off Wellington Road; Collect your Australia Day pack then please park your vehicle, as directed; Get your breakfast plate; Buy some raffle tickets (Great prizes as always); Pick up the quiz sheets (more prizes); Collect your free breakfast from 7.30 onwards; Enjoy free cups of tea, coffee & cold drinks; Decide on which of the rally runs you wish to do. (Maps will be on display around the tuck-shop area. The runs leave from different gates so you need choose which run you would most enjoy on the day);

With over 500 vehicles expected to be on display don’t forget to walk around the oval and enjoy the vast array of vehicles. Then at 9.15am a drivers briefing will be held in the tuck-shop area.

At 9.30 am, the day’s runs start. The run sheets will be handed out at the gazebos near the 2 exit gates. Use the maps on display in the tuck-shop area to decide which run best suits your vehicle and therefore which exit gate you should use.

If your club wants to organize their own run that’s OK, but why not finish its run at Alexandra Hills Hotel at around mid day and join us for the Australia Day lunch.

All the Bayside Club runs will feature a BYO morning tea stop and interesting roads and scenery.

The lunch stop will be at the Alexandra Hills Hotel. Lunch will cost under $6.00, if you buy a drink. The raffle will be drawn and quiz prizes awarded over lunch.

Bayside Club 24th Annual Ormiston Swap

Sunday March 28th is the date for the Ormiston Swap, which is held at the Ormiston State School, Wellington Rd., Ormiston. This event organised by the Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club attracts several hundred stallholders selling every thing from parts for cars from the 20-30’s through to vehicle parts from the 70-80’s.

This year there will be Italian cars and bike parts as well as Australian; British; American; Japanese & other European country parts. There will also be stalls selling bric-a-brac. The event attracts thousands of buyers from all over South East Queensland.

This is the one swap you should attend if you are looking for that part or selling parts to make room for something else.

The School P&C supply all the hot and cold food and drinks at very reasonable cost. Gates open 6am. Admission $2.00 per person. Swap Sites $4.00. – Dogs not allowed. All Catering reserved – Ormiston SS P & C

Motorfest 2010

RACQ Motorfest is on again in 2010 and will be at Eagle Farm Racecourse. The date has not been released yet but keep the second Sunday in July free to join the thousands of Vintage, Veteran, Historic, & both Modern & Old Classic vehicles on display.

The RACQ is asking people in the movement to identify the Vehicle that should be featured in 2010 so if you can recommend a vehicle make/marque to be featured at the event contact the Secretary of QHMC on 32073733 and let him know.

All suggestions will be forwarded to the RACQ in order to assist in the selection of the featured vehicle at next year’s Motorfest.

Coast to Coast Rally

The Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club announces the inaugural 2010 Coast to Coast Rally. The Rally will start on the northern end of Gold Coast and finish at the Southern end of the Sunshine Coast. The rally will be scheduled for late winter – Early Spring 2010 – so keep checking this website for details and entry forms; you will not want to miss the event as it will be organised to the same high standard as all Bayside Club events.

Gatton Truck Museum Opening

The Gatton Truck Museum will be opening on Sat November 7th.

There will be a short procession of vehicles for the opening celebrations, if you want to participate:

assemble at showgrounds at 8:30am
procession departs around 9:30am
looking for 11 open-top cars to ferry official party
a morning tea MIGHT be on offer at the showgrounds (or museum) but it would be wise to pack your own;
