January 28th, 2008 Posted in press release

The planning for next years Australia Day Rally hopes to see well over 500 vehicles.

This year once again saw an increase of vintage and classic cars descending on the Redlands to celebrate Australia Day 2008. Last year saw 405 vehicles and this years totalled 495!!!

The Bayside Vehicle Restorers Club invited owners and clubs to join them for breakfast at Ormiston State School and then followed with tours of the bayside. The cars left the school at around 9.30am after being flagged off by the local Cr. Alan Barker and travelled via Cleveland Point and Wellington Point to various locations.

Club rally organiser and long-time club stalwart – Les Whelan said “what a great day was had by all” we are looking forward to an even bigger event next year. Our 3 raffle prizes this year were fantastic with 1st prize being a GPS, 2nd prize a folding gazebo and 3rd prize a wheelbarrow full of goodies.

Lunch was enjoyed by many of the entrants at the Alexandra Hills Hotel, with vehicles on display there as well.
